James & Fiona | 2013 Hamilton Island Wedding Photography

I’ve been so excited to firstly, photograph James & Fiona’s wedding in November this year, and secondly to actually post the images.  Fiona and I have known each other since we were 12 when we both attended Darwin High School.  I felt so honoured to be a guest at the wedding on the infamous Hamilton Island, and also photograph all of the action.  I arrived on the Thursday before their wedding, and was able to meet with Fiona and James to have a quick tour of the Island via golf buggy, and have a look at both the ceremony and reception locations, which I am sure you will all agree are amazing with world class views!  That evening all the guests headed up to “One Tree Hill” for sunset cocktails, and it was great to catch up with so many old friends from our high school days. Daniel & Jenna | 2013 Darwin Wedding Photography

Why do I love this wedding so much?  It could be the personalised ceremony and reception held at Daniel’s parents house – or it could be the gorgeous bush locations I was able to work with for their wedding photos, or maybe all of the lovely family and friends who attended their wedding?  Or maybe, it’s because the lovely bride Jenna and myself used to be the best of childhood friends.  Things that come to mind when I think of Jenna are gymnastics, frozen orange, magnum ego’s, camping at ‘the block’, making cubby houses, Jenna getting blue tac stuck in my hair, riding quad bikes and tractors (and falling of the back of them),  Jenna telling me her dog Pepper was related to a cow (and I believed her), and Jenna telling me the scar on her forehead was actually a worm that crawled up her nose at night and got stuck in her forehead (again, I believed her).  I could go on and on, but I am sure you want to see the photos of this lovely couple.  I am so happy for Jenna that she has found Daniel, such a lovely down to earth guy who loves the camera (sorry Daniel I had to say that).  I felt very privileged to be photographing their wedding, and had to hold back a few tears as Jenna came down the aisle with her Dad – I was telling my self “no don’t cry Mel, focus on the photos!”.  Enjoy – Mel Silva – Darwin Wedding Photography
